What is "Paint the Town Blue"?

"Paint the Town Blue" is an initiative dedicated to honoring and appreciating law enforcement officers for their service and sacrifice, and often held during National Police Week (mid-May). Participants display blue lights on homes/businesses, wear blue, and use social media to honor officers' service and sacrifices. 

How to Participate in Paint the Town Blue:

  • Lighting: Swap exterior porch lights or string lights with blue bulbs.  The following links may be helpful in your search to find inexpensive options (FBICECAAA receives no benefit or compensation from these links):

  • Decorations: Hang blue ribbons, bows, or balloons on mailboxes, trees, or front doors.

  • Wear Blue: Wear blue clothing to show visible support in public.

  • Social Media: Use hashtags like #PaintTheTownBlue, #ThinBlueLine, or #NationalLawEnforcementAppreciationDay to share support.

  • Show Gratitude: Send notes of appreciation to local police departments, state agencies, or sheriff's offices.
